Digital Programming Producer (News)

(Working with a major global broadcaster)

The Role

The Digital Editor, Programming, will report into the Senior Editor, Programming, curating core digital surfaces, sending alerts to app audiences, and using creativity in content packaging with editorial judgment at the forefront. This role requires exceptional news judgment, urgency, and strong instincts in how to present content. You’ll play a key role in engaging audiences and shaping how millions consume news daily.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Master the broadcaster’s core platforms, demonstrating outstanding news judgment
  • Initiate creative feed organisation using the full content library
  • Use top‑tier editorial judgment to curate, frame and present news in a clear and compelling way
  • Proactively identify programming and audience needs, collaborating with senior editorial leaders
  • Guide associate editors and step in as a shift lead when needed
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to share feedback, discuss initiatives, and support day‑to‑day programming
  • Participate in post‑mortems and strategic conversations to continually strengthen output
  • Execute distribution strategies while monitoring performance data and optimising content in real time
  • Apply deep knowledge of digital content formats (video, articles, photo galleries, etc.) to meet user needs
  • Identify trends and share insights with senior leadership
  • Contribute to content strategies based on audience behaviour and platform performance
  • Edit breaking news updates and work closely with writers on alerts and developing stories

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience working in digital news
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • Strong collaborative mindset and effective communication skills
  • Experience using analytics to inform editorial decisions and optimise performance
  • Strategic thinking and creative problem‑solving abilities
  • Flexibility to work nights and/or weekends when news demands
  • Strong understanding of digital storytelling across multiple formats
  • Comfortable making fast, high‑stakes editorial decisions
  • Experience with content management systems and digital publishing tools
