Digital Signage Systems Engineer required urgently for 1 year contract role with high profile Broadcaster
The Job
Responsible for management and support of Digital Signage systems in all buildings. Main duties will include implementation, integration, commissioning, testing, monitoring, fault diagnosis/resolution. It is expected that the DS systems engineer will become the SME for the company’s signage platform and therefore needs to be aware of the products current capabilities and those proposed on its roadmap. The DS system engineer will need to be able to identify and propose potential integrations between the digital signage platform and other systems used within the company (e.g., Internal comms tools, room booking, wayfinding and visitor management systems and video conferencing meeting rooms).
Key responsibilities
- Key role within the UC/AV Product Team in the management and support of the Digital Signage (DS) Product/Service into the company.
- Daily proactive monitoring/maintenance of DS systems in corporate buildings, receptions, lobbies, communal areas to ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Management and ownership of raised/triaged support tickets in Remedy by staff for DS issues.
- Provide technical support for DS issues:
- Log/raise in remedy as required (if not already)
- Investigate and diagnose faults and recommend further actions for raised requests to diagnose and resolve as appropriate.
- Work with 3rd party providers/onsite teams to assist with troubleshooting of DS hardware/software including replacement of faulty equipment.
- Maintain/manage workflow end to end until resolution.
- Manage RMA process with suppliers for faulty/warranty AV equipment (if applicable).
- Maintain and manage DS estate equipment/spares across sites.
- Update the master spreadsheet / database of DS hardware under the managed service including Asset Tagging and updating of CMDB for accurate billing under contract as the estate changes.
- Management and ownership of the digital signage portal.
- Management and ownership of the media player remote management portal.
- Conduct site surveys for new DS players/screens rooms.
- Take ownership of DS installations:
- Pre-stage/configuration of DS equipment
- Install and co-ordinate with onsite staff as necessary
- Test and certify onto managed service
- Update master portfolio of managed DS systems.
- Implement moves/changes including decommission/redeployment of DS Systems as necessary.
- Provide communication to stakeholders, conveying technical information clearly to non-technical staff, either verbally or in written form as required.
- Liaise with 3rd party suppliers on Product Updates/Roadmaps.
- Stay up to date with the digital signage platforms current capabilities and be aware of any functionality on the product roadmap which could be beneficial to the company.
- Review and test software/firmware updates on DS managed estate with recommendations on deployment cycles (scheduled and unscheduled).
- Work with the UC Product Management team to develop and maintain an AV standard for the hardware deployed across the digital signage estate.
- Provide regular reporting into service review boards and recommendations on service improvements.
Knowledge, skills, training and experience
Essential
- Experienced with the design, delivery and/or support of Digital Signage Products/Services, their technical systems and infrastructure in a technology environment.
- Knowledge of Digital Signage Systems, configuration of players/network devices and CMS (e.g., Appspace/Tripleplay).
- Experience and understanding of networking protocols for connected AV equipment and systems.
- Understanding of new and emerging technologies and how these may be applied within DS technology projects and products.
- Motivated and organised with the ability to manage multiple active tasks.
- Good communication (spoken, written, listening) and IT skills.
- Able to work in a diverse and varied team, showing evidence of dealing with technical issues and providing cover as necessary.
- Able to deliver to deadlines and demonstrate resilience to ensure the correct technical solution is selected.
- Awareness of translating project, user and product requirements into implemented technical solutions.
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of Remedy/Service Now.
- Knowledge of cloud computing disciplines (Networking as a Service, (NaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)) and Internet Protocol (IP) technologies.
- Experience working alongside third party service delivery or support in an engineering environment.
- Knowledge of Azure/AWS configuration.
- Awareness of broadcast or datacentre infrastructure installations including power, environmental and space layout considerations.
Role is essentially an AV Systems Engineer with excellent Digital Signage knowledge
Role is inside IR35 so rate is to candidates Umbrella co
Location is any of London, Salford or Glasgow but Salford preferred.
Hybrid working 2 days on site (min)
No line management responsibility. Ad hoc supervision of junior members of the team and third parties/contractors
Ad-hoc teams: As required. Teams may vary from small (2 to5 people) to large (30+).
